Art Online Assignment 2
Weightage: 20% of SA1
Topic: International Friendship Day (IFD)
Introduction:
The Youth Olympic Games is coming to Singapore this year! People and youth from all
over the world will be/are here (about 5000 of them!) and it’s time for us to celebrate by
decorating our school with posters (reflecting this theme of course!)
Instructions:
1. Study the Principles of Design which can be found in:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principles_of_art
http://www.goshen.edu/art/ed/Compose.htm#principles
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZQpbVG0gYU
They can also be found in your Art textbook from page 59 onwards. Understand how to
use them in your artwork!
2. With the Youth Olympic Games as the theme for your artwork, show in your poster
that Sports is also an engine for us to make new friends as well as have fun with our
existing friends. We may not understand some of the languages they speak but we sure
can communicate and have fun through sports!
You can demonstrate this friendship through the use of vibrant colours of the Youth
Olympics, etc.
3. Your poster should be NO BIGGER than A3 size (size of drawing block), and NO
SMALLER than A4 size. Anything in between is acceptable!
4. You may use Photoshop as a medium (but you must be able to print it out in colour) or
you may use colour pencils, collage, crayons, markers, paint OR you can mix them all up
together, like how some of you did for your Chinese New Year cards!
At the back of your design, write down your name, register no. and class, and add in a
description of not more than 50 words, stating which Principle of Design is used, what
about the YOG that inspired you and what your design is about.
5. Your works should also be inspired by some of the artists’ works that we have
discussed in the recent research project (mention at least one in your 50 word
description), and may depict realistic or abstract subject matter (pictures).
6. Visit www.singapore2010.sg for inspiration!
7. Submit to your class art rep by 9th April 2010, 3.30pm. Art reps please tie them up
together with a rubber band (get from teachers or bookshop) and put them in my pigeon
hole (No. 70).
8. FAILURE TO SUBMIT = 0 marks will be awarded.
